It is located to the west of the Turla River in the north of Bender Bogdan (Moldova), the last border town of the Ottoman Empire. V. Radloff refers to Tighina / Tiglina as a disruption of Tegin-Teggin, which is the city’s former name in Turkish. After the city passed to the Ottoman administration, it took the name Bender. Meaning Farca’da port along the river, in Arabic pier, gate or castle means. Bender joined the Ottoman territory after the Bulgarian Expedition organized by Sultan Süleyman the 1st on the revolt of Petro Rareş. (1538) With the capture of the town, the existing castle was rebuilt much more strongly. The book of Kalenin belongs to 1538. Later on, the administrative division became a sanjak connected to Ozi province. Visiting Bender Castle in 1656, Evliya Çelebi mentioned the details of the deep ditches in front of the city walls from the thickness of the castle walls, because this place was very well fortified. Seven Muslims in the castle are non-Muslim neighborhoods, with over 1,500 houses and around 200 shops.
